Kids for the Future is seeking a Mobile Crisis Peer Specialist to respond as part of the Mobile Crisis Response Team in the community, building rapport and providing crisis intervention and supportive counseling. Assigned duties occur primarily in the community, with travel up to 50% of the time.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of experience with individuals with mental illness, 18+ and ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

Job Function:

The primary function of the Mobile Crisis Peer Specialist (MCPS) is to respond as part of the Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Team in the community to establish rapport, share experiences, and strengthen engagement for individuals in a behavioral health concerns. The MCR program is designed to provide effective and timely care for individuals, including crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and resource connection. The goal of services provided is to allow individuals to remain the community whenever possible. Assigned duties will occur primarily in the community.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required as well as 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental illness. In addition, the individual must be 18 years of age or older; be able to pass a KBI security check and an SRS Child and Adult Abuse Registry check. Must have reliable transportation with auto insurance required. This position requires knowledge of basic computer skills. Must have excellent organizational skills; the ability to be responsible and work independently; the ability to maintain flexibility and dependability in work schedule; positive interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to perform day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to- 20% of scheduled time; data entry, answering the phone and computer work, 80% of scheduled time; ability to lift up to 25 pounds, frequently moving around the building and community, as well as repetitive moving, carrying and lifting as the job demands. Individual must self identify as a present or former consumer of mental health services and model successful recovery strategies. This position requires you to provide Peer Support services with using personal transportation or transporting persons served.
