Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on construction projects, capture on-site data, and deliver processed meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD files. You will work across rebar, embeds, corroded pipes, and machine parts, with data checked on site and exported in client-friendly formats.

You will gain training on capture procedures, drift-control methods, and reporting templates, with opportunities to advance toward regional roles or project

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner (Artec Leo, Eva, Space Spider) on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings (SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor, Revit).
• Able to travel and lift equipment; valid driver's license with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, failed/damaged structures, corroded pipe and tanks, and machine parts.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for the modeling team.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters; coordinate access and safety on sites; travel to regional hubs as assigned.
