Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to evaluate and interpret results from blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods.

You will ensure high-quality lab results within established timeframes, perform QC, maintenance, and troubleshoot any instrument issues in a collaborative hospital setting. The role involves semi-autonomous work, training of new staff and students, and strict adherence to safety and confidentiality policies in a busy clinical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Associate’s + 2 years may substitute.
• Successful completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Works semi-autonomously to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Assists with training of new team members and students.
• Maintains infection control and safety practices and a clean work area.
