Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to evaluate specimens, interpret results and analyze blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods within established timeframes.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or associate’s with related experience), a Florida MT license, and an approved clinical training internship. Preference given to candidates with ASCP/AAB/AMT certification. You will ensure QC, mentor staff, and uphold regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate’s degree with two years related experience may substitute.
• Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.
• Florida license as Medical Technologist in the assigned laboratory specialties.
• ASCP/AAB/AMT national certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Assists in training new team members and students.
• Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
