Job summary

Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) III to evaluate and analyze blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods within established policies and timelines.

You will work days on a 3x8 schedule, with 2-3 weekdays plus every other weekend, some holidays, and as needed, and provide guidance to junior staff while maintaining quality control and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Successful completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship
• Current Florida license as Medical Technologist or eligible
• National Certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Provides guidance to other team members and works independently.
• Performs high complexity testing.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Maintains compliance with departmental policies and safety practices.
• Assists in training of new team members and students.
