Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Successful completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.
• Maintains Florida license as Medical Technologist; licensure required for the laboratory section(s).
• National Certification (ASCP/AAB/AMT) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs and documents quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Provides guidance to other team members with less experience.
• Works independently within broad guidelines to accomplish tasks.
• Assists with troubleshooting problems and recommends solutions.
• Explains difficult information to patients and caregivers.
• Performs high complexity testing and verifies instrument performance standards.
• Maintains computer system proficiency (ordering, results, inquiry).
• Assists in training of new team members and students.
