Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to evaluate specimens, verify results, and perform QC and maintenance across automated and manual methods. The MLS will communicate critical results to care teams and assist in training new staff.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or an Associate’s with 2 years of related experience), completion of an approved clinical laboratory internship, and current Florida MT licensure for the appropriate specialty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Associate's degree and two years of directly related experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree.
• Successful completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.
• Florida licensure as Medical Technologist for the laboratory specialty on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents all QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Works semi-autonomously to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Maintains knowledge of related laboratory areas and cross-functional relationships.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Assists in training new team members and students.
