AdventHealth in Fruitland Park, Florida is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory professional to perform pre-analytical and analytical duties, ensure quality and safety, and support clinical staff. The role requires strong documentation, proficiency with lab equipment, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Follows the Corporate Compliance Plan and protects patient information at all times.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities with minimal supervision.
• Maintains equipment records and performs quality assessment activities.
• Educates and trains new staff in medical laboratory settings.
• Able to communicate effectively in English with patients and staff.
• Uses basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
• Maintains patient documentation, testing records, and related documents.
• General knowledge of laboratory testing functions and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, checks, inventory control, specimen collection, and disinfection.
• Conducts post-analytical activities, reports results, and provides technical support.
• Completes tests and procedures according to SOPs.
• Participates in proficiency testing and adheres to regulations and policies.
• May act as a preceptor to orient and train new employees and students.
• Guides technicians and staff, resolves service issues within guidelines.
• Follows safety policies including PPE use, handwashing, and hazardous waste handling.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and projects.
• Evaluates new lab techniques and assists with data collection and special projects.
• Facilitates workflow and provides education to clinical staff as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
