Job summary

Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join the LMH Laboratory team. The role includes night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), with a variable full-time schedule of 3 x 12 shifts, in a comprehensive acute care facility known for patient-centered care.

The MLS II will perform and verify routine testing, apply quality control measures, and assist in training. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree, have a clinical internship, and Florida MT licensure;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; clinical laboratory internship completed.
• Florida license as a Medical Technologist required; ASCP/AAB/AMT certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of directly related experience; department-specific competencies may be required.
• One year of experience; degree substitutions allowed per policy; state license required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy.
• Performs quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Supports transfer of knowledge; semi-autonomous task execution.
• Maintains instrument performance through checks and method comparisons.
• Communicates critical results to the patient care team.
