Mercy Health's Core Laboratory in St. Joseph Warren Hospital seeks a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to perform routine tests on specimens and deliver accurate results to physicians using a range of clinical lab equipment.

The role requires a BS in CLS/ MLS, MLS certification (or eligibility), and externship experience preferred, with a focus on patient safety and quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field through a CLIA-approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a recognized agency (preferably ASCP) (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine analytical tests on blood, tissues and specimens with accuracy.
• Determines acceptability of specimens via visual inspection and results.
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and takes appropriate action.
• Performs quality control and ensures acceptable results before release.
• Maintains a safe, organized lab environment and troubleshoots equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
