Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the St. Vincent Medical Center Medical Office Building 2 in Ohio. The MLS will perform routine tests on blood and tissues, ensuring accurate results for physicians while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

Required are a B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science (or related) and MLS certification or eligibility. Externship preferred. Competitive benefits and development opportunities are offered by Mercy Health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a CLIA-approved program in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry.
• MLS certification or eligible by ASCP or other recognized agency.
• Externship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or recognizing abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and acts per protocols.
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges before release.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by equipment checks and proper housekeeping.
