Job summary

Achievement First Charter School Network is seeking an MLL Teacher-Coordinator to lead English Language Development for students identified as needing ELD support. You will manage the one-time language screening and annual language proficiency assessment in collaboration with classroom teachers to accelerate English and core academic learning.

Under the direction of the principal and the MLL Director, you will share best practices, model assets-based multilingualism, and support school-wide

Qualifications

• Two years of teaching experience preferred with a record of high student achievement.
• Bachelor’s degree with GPA ≥ 3.0; Master’s degree preferred.
• New York certified in TESOL or Bilingual Education or in process.
• Rhode Island certified in ESL.
• Connecticut certified in TESOL/Bilingual Education or in process. Bilingual Education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates a classroom environment that engages students and achieves learning objectives.
• Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction and work time.
• Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Adapts teaching to meet students’ varying needs and language proficiency.
• Monitors and assesses student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly.
• Instructs students in academic content and social-emotional skills.
• Takes safety precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
