Job summary

The Arc Western Montana in Missoula, MT is seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer to provide strategic leadership across all HR functions, partnering with executive leadership to align workforce strategies with organizational goals.

You will lead employee relations, recruitment, training, compliance, compensation, benefits, and HR technology initiatives, while developing leaders and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years progressive HR leadership experience.
• Experience in employee relations, investigations, leave administration, workers' compensation, performance management, and employment law compliance.
• Non-profit experience preferred; SHRM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for all HR functions.
• Partner with executive leadership to develop workforce strategies.
• Oversee employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce development.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Direct compensation, benefits, leave administration, and workers’ compensation programs.
• Develop and implement HR policies and best practices for organizational effectiveness.
• Drive HR process improvements and use of HR technology.
• Coach and develop managers in employee management and leadership practices.
• Lead organizational training, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Utilize workforce data and metrics to support strategic decision-making.
