Job summary

Defense Unicorns seeks a Mission Director for Space to own end-to-end capture and contract execution with Space Force opportunities. You will cultivate trusted relationships with Mission Heroes, shape solutions, and drive contracts from discovery to award while overseeing portfolio outcomes.

The role requires leadership across a growing portfolio, guiding program managers and delivery leaders, with 25–40% travel to customer sites as needed, including LA and Huntsville.

Qualifications

• Experience within the Space Force or a closely related defense environment.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to own revenue-generating activities.
• Willingness to operate across business development, contracting, staffing, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Build the Business: identify and develop Space Force opportunities and grow a diversified portfolio.
• Shape and Close Opportunities: define customer problems and lead opportunities to contract award.
• Own Contract Execution: serve as program leader for new contracts and ensure delivery.
• Build and Lead the Team: define and build the team, lead program managers as portfolio grows.
• Grow the Portfolio: maintain a pipeline and drive follow-on work and margin.
