Job summary

HED is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to shape high-performance systems across major projects. You will own large portions of design delivery, mentor teams, and represent the firm in client relationships with a focus on technical excellence.

In this role you will lead complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs, coordinate with architecture and structures, and guide QAQC and documentation from concept through construction. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• PE licensure required.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with Revit for MEP coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and documentation of complex mechanical systems—HVAC, plumbing and fire protection—with minimal oversight.
• Validate and approve key mechanical calculations and integrate results into design.
• Oversee setup of mechanical Revit models, including views, sheet organization, system browser strategies, and annotations.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary design and review with architectural, structural, and civil teams.
• Serve as primary mechanical technical contact across project teams and review submittals, RFIs, and substitutions.
• Perform site visits, field verification, and produce professional-level mechanical field reports.
• Provide mechanical design leadership from concept through construction administration and guide QAQC.
• Mentor junior engineers and mechanical designers; participate in fee development and scope planning.
