Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software for mission-critical defense systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.

You will implement architecture, integrate modules, perform unit tests, and contribute to DevOps/CI/CD, while mentoring juniors and ensuring DoD security readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline with GPA 3.0+.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, or 2+ years with a master's degree.
• U.S. citizen eligible to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Experience developing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting embedded software that interfaces with embedded systems.
• Residency in North Alabama or willingness to relocate to Huntsville‑North Alabama area.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development.
• Experience with RTOS such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with ARM Cortex, RISC‑V, or similar architectures.
• Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, GDB).
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and integrate embedded airborne system software; own cross‑subsystem integration; use DevOps/CI‑CD.
• Develop tools and harnesses to support testing and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and teams across engineering disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy and best practices.
