Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Aviation Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop robust software for airborne systems in Huntsville. You’ll work on embedded software architectures, full-stack solutions, and tools, with a focus on mission-critical software and system integration.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with customers and cross-functional teams, and drive software deliverables from concept to deployment in a defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent with GPA 3.0+.
• 4–8 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience designing full-stack software for airborne systems including embedded components.
• Proficiency with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for software lifecycles.
• Strong collaboration, mentoring and communication with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect full-stack software solutions for airborne systems, including embedded software architecture and integration.
• Lead technical design decisions and influence solutions within the SDLC, using DevOps/CI/CD.
• Develop software tools, test harnesses, and infrastructure for integrated solutions.
• Mentor and review junior engineers on patterns, coding standards, and best practices.
• Communicate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and drive deliverables.
• Own software components or subsystems from concept through deployment.
