Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and demonstrate mission-critical embedded software for missile defense systems. You will work across full software stack, lead design and testing, and mentor teammates in a fast-paced environment.

You will apply SDLC best practices, collaborate with customers, and support CI/CD and tool development while ensuring security clearances and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline from an accredited institution, with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• 12+ years of relevant technical experience, or 10+ years with a master’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with real-time embedded system in defense, aerospace, or safety-critical platforms preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
• Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• Experience with real-time operating system (RTOS) such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual design across the full stack of software for airborne systems and embedded software architectural design.
• Code implementation, unit testing, and cohesive integration of modules within subsystems and across distributed networks.
• Lead and mentor team members, conduct design reviews, and contribute to SDLC best practices.
• Communicate with customers and stakeholders to support delivery of high-quality software solutions.
• Develop tools, harnesses, and infrastructure to support integrated solutions and CI/CD pipelines.
