Leidos in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and demonstrate mission-critical embedded software for defense systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0 or higher.
• 8+ years of relevant technical experience, or 6+ years with a master’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience with real-time embedded systems in defense/aerospace.
• U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area.
• Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS).
• Experience with ARM Cortex, RISC-V, or similar architectures.

Responsibilities

• Perform architectural development across full-stack airborne system software, including embedded design and unit testing.
• Lead design, development, testing, debugging of embedded software systems.
• Apply software engineering principles across the SDLC: requirements analysis, hardware compatibility, and tools development.
• Recommend and implement new technologies to enhance software practices and delivery.
• Lead and mentor team members, driving complex projects and strategic execution.
• Identify improved workflows and AI-enabled development capabilities.
