Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL seeks a Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to develop mission-critical software and firmware for missile defense systems. You will design, develop, test, and demonstrate advanced software, collaborating with integrated engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong C/C++, RTOS experience, and familiarity with DevOps practices. Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD clearance; relocation to North Alabama is considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with GPA 3.0 or higher.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, or 2+ years with a master’s degree.
• US citizen and eligible for DoD security clearance.
• Experience with embedded software interfacing with embedded systems.
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS).
• Experience with ARM Cortex/RISC-V or similar.
• Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, GDB, oscilloscopes).
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, test automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded airborne system software within assigned area.
• Own integration of software modules and cross-subsystem integration.
• Utilize DevOps and CI/CD to ensure quality and delivery.
• Develop tools and harnesses to support testing and maintenance.
• Contribute to design, development, testing, and debugging of embedded software systems.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders and team members.
• Adopt software engineering standards and best practices throughout SDLC.
