Job summary

Leidos seeks a Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to develop mission-critical embedded software and firmware for missile defense systems. You will design, develop, integrate, and demonstrate advanced software capabilities in a fast-paced engineering environment. Qualifications include a BS in a relevant field, 4+ years or 2+ with a master's, U.S.

citizenship, and an active DoD Secret clearance. Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area is required, with strong C/C++

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline with GPA 3.0+.
• 4+ years of relevant technical experience, or 2+ years with a master's degree.
• 2+ years of experience with real-time embedded systems in defense/aerospace/safety-critical platforms preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must reside in North Alabama or be willing to relocate to Huntsville-North Alabama area.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• Experience with RTOS such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with embedded processors/microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, RISC-V, or similar).
• Experience with embedded debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual design and development of embedded airborne system software, including architecture, code implementation, peer review, and unit testing.
• Own integration of software modules within subsystems; support cross-subsystem integration and CI/CD pipelines for quality and delivery.
• Develop testing tools and harnesses to support testing, integration, and maintenance activities.
• Contribute to design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of embedded software systems within project scope.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders and team members regularly.
