Job summary

Kimmel Associates is seeking a Director of Development – Mission Critical to drive opportunities in the data center and mission critical construction markets. You will build strategic client relationships and lead cross-functional teams from pursuit to execution.

The role focuses on developing the market strategy, securing new business, and expanding the company’s footprint across nationwide clients, with the ability to be based anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years in construction with business development and preconstruction experience.
• Strong experience in mission critical/data center/construction markets.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities and secure strategic relationships.
• Experience with strategic planning, project development, and cross-functional leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel for clients and projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research and outreach.
• Develop relationships with data center end users, design teams, and stakeholders.
• Manage opportunities through sales and preconstruction processes.
• Support strategic sales efforts, CRM activity, proposals, and presentations.
• Lead design-build and design-assist pursuits with clear scope and assumptions.
• Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction for low-risk solutions.
• Work with operations to ensure smooth turnover from pursuit to execution.
• Shape market strategy and pipeline for mission critical growth.
