Job summary

Radiance Technologies in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and qualification of missile airframes, control surfaces, and internal packaging. Translate aerodynamic loads into flight-ready structures, TPS, and interfaces for CAS and propulsion.

You will own mechanical architecture with 3D CAD, perform FEA/thermal analyses, manage mass properties, and collaborate with GNC, avionics, and propulsion teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years missile/rocket or high-performance aerospace structures; M.S. with 3+ years acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical architecture and CAD modeling of missile airframes, seekers, body tubes, fins/canards, and internal mounting structures.
• Perform structural, modal, and aerothermal FEA to verify integrity, thermal margins, and dynamic response under flight loads.
• Manage mass properties and coordinate with GNC to maintain aerodynamic stability profiles.
• Integrate CAS, propulsion, and avionics to ensure minimal backlash and robust under heavy loads.
• Design ruggedized enclosures, mounting chassis, and vibration isolation for avionics and power electronics.
• Coordinate with propulsion and solid rocket motors for thrust vector alignment and thermal isolation.
• Apply DFMA with shops and vendors for cost-effective production.
• Lead environmental qualification testing per MIL-STD-810 and conduct field/test range support.
