Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Structural Designer to join the Energy and Resources Design team. The successful candidate will work on underground and surface mining, material handling, and industrial facilities, collaborating with engineers and designers to deliver high‑quality structural designs.

This role offers growth within a global engineering practice, with opportunities to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines on projects in North America and around the world;

Qualifications

• Graduate of Technical or College Course in Design/Drafting.
• 6 to 12 years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.
• At least 6 years of experience in the industrial consulting industry or an industrial environment.
• Experience in underground or surface mining projects strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow the Stantec Safety Culture and all Health and Safety rules for Stantec and its clients.
• Perform modeling, drafting and structural design tasks for a wide variety of projects.
• Complete project deliverables on budget and schedule.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams to produce quality design deliverables with appropriate detail.
• Support projects involving underground and surface mining infrastructure, shaft and headframe design, material handling, and other heavy industrial facilities.
• Work with Engineers and Junior Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet client needs.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to designers as part of their professional development.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
• Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and travel to local project sites as needed.
