Kiewit is offering a Safety Intern position in the Mining District that supports our mission of nobody gets hurt. You’ll learn about safety programs, regulations, and field practices while assisting teams on active projects across North America.

The internship emphasizes hands-on learning, with opportunities to develop, implement, and audit safety processes, and to travel or relocate as needed for project work.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership
• The ability to travel and relocate as required

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program
• Develop site safety policies and procedures
• Monitor construction activities for regulatory and client compliance
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in safety program audits
• Support onsite training and safety coaching
