Job summary

Northwest Hardwoods is seeking an experienced Millwright I to maintain and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment at our facility. You will troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and keep downtime to a minimum while ensuring safety and reliability across operations.

The role requires hands-on work in a fast-paced lumber manufacturing environment, with strong problem-solving and teamwork to keep production moving and products meeting quality standards.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and proactive about repairs.
• Ability to work unsupervised to complete tasks safely.
• Collaborate with maintenance team to improve location performance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical and plumbing breakdowns.
• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on hydraulic systems and other heavy equipment.
• Use welding and cutting torches to repair parts or fabricate structures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Read schematics and manuals to locate defects and complete repairs.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety procedures and operate safely.
• Assist with fabrication and other mechanical projects as needed.
• Operate equipment as required and maintain a clean work area.
• Collaborate with teammates and supervisor for efficient upkeep.
• Other duties as assigned.
