Job summary

Northwest Hardwoods (NWH) is seeking an experienced Millwright I to maintain and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment, ensuring reliable, safe operation across our sawmill and manufacturing processes. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and minimize downtime while adhering to safety protocols.

The role requires reading schematics and blueprints, welding/fabrication skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and equipment manuals.
• Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
• Commitment to safety around heavy equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical and plumbing breakdowns.
• Perform preventive maintenance on hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Weld and fabricate parts or structural equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and read schematics/blueprints.
• Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime.
• Operate equipment and assist with fabrication projects as required.
• Ensure clean and safe work area; follow all safety procedures.
• Collaborate with team and supervisor to improve site performance.
