Job summary

eNGINE is looking for an experienced engineer to lead the backend migration of a marketing website from WordPress to Contentful, hosted on Azure. You will anchor the project’s backend, collaborate with the marketing team, and ensure the public site remains visually consistent during the transition.

As the technical lead, you will design content models, migrate assets, set up Contentful environments, and automate publishing workflows.

Qualifications

eNGINE is hiring an experienced engineer to lead the backend migration of a company's marketing website from WordPress to Contentful, hosted on Azure. The organization has a strong in-house frontend team but lacks backend expertise in this area, so you'll be the technical anchor for the project. You'll work closely with the marketing department to ensure a smooth transition that keeps the public-facing experience intact.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute the migration of existing WordPress content to Contentful
• Design content models, structures, and workflows in Contentful that fit the marketing team's needs
• Configure and manage the Contentful environment and its integration with Azure infrastructure
• Work with the in-house frontend team to ensure the new backend supports the existing frontend without visible changes
• Migrate pages and media assets, including embedded video content
• Build automation and templating that standardize recurring content types. A key example is press releases: currently each is built from scratch and styled to look as consistent as possible by hand. The target state is that once content is entered, a single action generates a consistently formatted press release page
• Partner with the marketing department to understand their publishing workflows and make sure the new system works for them
• Document the architecture, content models, and processes for handoff

Required Qualifications:

• Hands-on Contentful experience. Direct experience building and migrating sites on Contentful is required
• Proven WordPress migration experience. You've done this type of project before and can speak to what went well and what you'd do differently
• Working experience with Azure hosting and deployment
• Strong backend development skills and content architecture experience
• Experience building automation or templating for content publishing workflows
• Ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, particularly marketing teams
• Clear communicator who can work alongside an established frontend team
