Aquent is seeking an experienced contract WordPress Developer to build, launch, and execute a CMS migration from HubSpot to custom WordPress. You will work with the marketing lead to implement Claude Design files, develop responsive themes, and ensure a smooth production cutover.

Responsibilities include embedding Marketo forms, Munchkin tracking, and preserving SEO via redirects, while configuring hosting, SSL, and DNS with GoDaddy. Remote role with 8–9 weeks timeline and 25–40 hours per week.

• 4+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Experience building custom PHP themes, Gutenberg blocks, HTML/CSS/JS.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted workflows.
• Marketo integration: embedding forms, hidden fields, and tracking scripts.
• CMS migration experience: migrating from HubSpot to WordPress with SEO preservation.
• Infrastructure & DNS: hosting setup, SSL, and GoDaddy DNS cutovers.
• Excellent communication with marketing stakeholders.

Job Title: Custom WordPress Developer (Contract)

Location: Remote (US West Coast / PST overlap preferred)

Workload:25–40 hours/week (based on availability)

Duration: 8–9 weeks

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced contract WordPress Developer to build, launch, and execute a complete CMS migration from HubSpot to custom WordPress. Working directly with our client’s marketing lead, you will take completed design files produced in Claude Design, execute the full technical build, embed Marketo lead-capture forms/tracking, and lead a seamless production cutover.

Key Responsibilities

• Custom WordPress Build: Build responsive custom themes, page templates, and Gutenberg blocks from Claude Design files. Leverage AI tools like Claude Code during the build process to maximize efficiency and maintain speed.
• Local & Staging Environment: Develop locally (WordPress Studio preferred) and push to a staging environment for marketing review and testing.
• Form & Tracking Integration: Embed and test Marketo forms, Munchkin tracking scripts, and hidden field routing to ensure leads sync properly to Marketo and Salesforce.
• Content Migration: Migrate existing blog posts, landing pages, and media from HubSpot to WordPress.
• SEO & Redirects: Implement full 301 redirect mappings and preserve SEO attributes (metadata, sitemaps, canonical tags, analytics).
• Hosting & DNS: Configure production hosting, SSL, and DNS cutover on GoDaddy.
• QA & Optimization: Conduct cross-browser/device testing, accessibility audits (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance), and speed/performance optimization.
• Documentation: Provide clean handoff documentation so marketing can manage day-to-day updates post-launch.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• 4+ years of professional WordPress development experience with custom PHP themes, Gutenberg blocks, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development workflows to build custom WordPress environments.
• Marketo Integration: Proven experience embedding Marketo forms, hidden fields, and Munchkin tracking scripts into custom WordPress sites.
• CMS Migration: Demonstrated track record executing complete migrations off platforms like HubSpot, including 301 redirect strategies and SEO preservation.
• Infrastructure & DNS: Practical knowledge of production hosting setup, SSL installation, and GoDaddy DNS cutovers.
• Technical Quality & QA: Experience executing cross-device QA, page speed optimization, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Communication: Ability to work autonomously as a technical advisor and communicate clearly with non-developer marketing stakeholders.
