Role Overview

eNGINE is seeking an experienced Web Developer with 4+ years of Contentful experience to support a website content migration for an eNGINE customer. The organization is transitioning its existing WordPress websites to Contentful, built on Microsoft Azure, and needs a developer who can lead the backend implementation.

The existing frontend expertise is already established internally, so the primary focus is on migrating the underlying content infrastructure while preserving the current website appearance and functionality. Working closely with the Marketing team and internal developers, you'll help establish reusable content models, streamline publishing workflows, and introduce automation that makes website management more consistent and efficient.

This is an opportunity for a developer who has completed similar CMS migrations and understands how to build a reliable, scalable solution. Senior-level experience is preferred, but strong mid-level developers with the right background will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the backend migration of existing WordPress websites into Contentful.
• Design and implement Contentful content models, content types, and reusable components.
• Work within a Microsoft Azure environment to support the new content management architecture.
• Preserve existing website content, structure, and functionality while minimizing unnecessary frontend changes.
• Develop automation and reusable publishing workflows to improve consistency across website content.
• Create standardized templates for recurring content, such as press releases, allowing Marketing to publish consistently formatted pages without starting from scratch.
• Collaborate with Marketing and internal frontend developers to understand requirements and ensure a smooth transition.
• Establish efficient processes for content migration, publishing, and ongoing maintenance.
• Test migrated content and functionality to ensure accuracy and a successful transition from WordPress.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience working with Contentful.
• 5+ years of professional web development experience preferred.
• Previous experience migrating websites or content management platforms into Contentful.
• Strong understanding of headless CMS architecture, content modeling, and content delivery.
• Experience working with APIs and backend integrations to connect content management platforms with frontend applications.
• Experience building reusable content structures, templates, and automated publishing workflows.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of a backend migration from planning through implementation.
• Ability to work standard business hours in the Eastern Time Zone.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience migrating WordPress websites to Contentful.
• Experience deploying or integrating Contentful within a Microsoft Azure environment.
• Familiarity with Contentful APIs, webhooks, and automation capabilities.
• Experience creating structured content workflows that allow Marketing teams to publish consistent content with minimal developer involvement.
• Experience working alongside established frontend development teams.
