Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mid-Level Grid Mod Engineer for our distribution advanced studies team in multiple locations, including Richmond, VA, Fort Mill, SC, and Atlanta, GA. This role focuses on modernization of distribution grids, including FLISR, Volt-Var optimization, and ADMS, with opportunities to influence project strategy and technical direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer delivering design for large capital projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and ability to evaluate alternatives and present recommendations.
• Ability to work across teams and take initiative to learn new topics.
• Strong command of English with proven written and oral communication skills; able to present information and lead meetings.

Responsibilities

• Modernize distribution grid systems including FLISR, Volt-Var optimization, and resiliency programs.
• Lead complex grid modernization initiatives and develop scalable delivery approaches.
• Mentor project teams and support professional growth and client satisfaction.
• Develop technical insights and present them through visualization and reporting tools.
• Provide technical leadership for strategic initiatives and manage project schedules and budgets.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and vendors on proposals and business development.
• Engage in industry groups and standards committees to advance practices.
• Travel to project locations as needed and learn other disciplines such as Protection, Planning, and SCADA.
