Job summary

Mérieux NutriSciences in Columbus, OH is seeking a Microbiology Technician - Plating to prepare samples and track them in the LIMS. You will support pathogen testing workflows, plate handling, and media preparation while ensuring accuracy and safety in a fast-paced lab environment.

Training starts with a 10AM schedule; after training, the regular schedule will be Sunday–Thursday. Full-time role with benefits includes health, PTO, and a 401(k) with employer matching.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work.
• Basic science knowledge to perform testing procedures.
• Basic PC skills to enter data and results.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
• Planning skills to manage materials and timing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Identify plates with client and sample numbers.
• Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to start growth.
• Incubate plates at specified time and temperature.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing.
• Ensure materials are ready for next testing sequence.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS for job responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to count organisms.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Perform housekeeping and keep areas clean.
• Participate in cleaning schedule and retain samples.
• Adhere to safety policies.
• Assist management in improving the management system.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.
