Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Columbus, OH is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our lab team. The role focuses on plating, sample preparation, and documentation to support routine pathogen testing. You will prepare plates, label samples, and operate basic lab equipment while complying with safety policies.

Training is provided; regular full-time schedule with competitive benefits. Strong attention to detail, basic science knowledge, and familiarity with LIMS are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work experience.
• Basic knowledge of science to accurately perform testing procedures.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is preferred.
• Planning skills to maintain supplies and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis and document procedures.
• Label plates with client and sample IDs for traceability.
• Pipette solutions into tubes or plates according to protocol.
• Pour agar into plates to begin the growth process.
• Incubate plates at specified times and temperatures.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS and complete data entry.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine organism counts.
• Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform housekeeping and keep work areas clean and sanitized.
• Participate in cleaning schedules and retain samples as required.
• Follow safety policies and contribute to safe lab operations.
