Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Crete, IL seeks a Microbiology Technician to prepare samples, document results and support pathogen testing under GMP-like conditions. The role runs Tue-Sat, 2:00 PM start, with daily responsibilities including weighing, pipetting, plating and lab housekeeping.

Ideal candidates hold a HS Diploma with 1+ year lab experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with LIMS; evening/weekend work is required, and the team offers comprehensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work experience.
• Basic knowledge of science to accurately perform testing procedures.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies.
• Planning skills to maintain supplies and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with client and sample numbers for traceability.
• Pipette samples into tubes or plates as required by the analysis.
• Pour agar and begin growth process for testing.
• Incubate plates at required time and temperature.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as needed.
• Maintain documentation in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Set up equipment and materials for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine organism counts.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Maintain clean and sanitized work areas and equipment.
• Participate in cleaning schedule and retain samples as required.
• Adhere to all safety policies and assist with management system improvements.
