Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES is seeking a Microbiology Technician in Salt Lake City, UT. The role involves preparing samples, labeling plates, and performing routine growth and analysis tasks in a regulated lab environment.

You will work a full-time schedule, including weekends, and contribute to safety, data integrity, and adherence to the laboratory management system. A strong science background and attention to detail are required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work experience.
• Basic science knowledge to perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results.
• Basic computer literacy to enter data and results.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with client and sample numbers for traceability.
• Pipette samples into tubes or plates as per procedure.
• Pour agar into plates to initiate growth.
• Incubate plates at required times and temperatures.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS to complete responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to count organisms in samples.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure sanitation of work areas.
• Participate in cleaning schedules and retain samples.
• Follow all safety policies and assist in management system improvements.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.
