Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Allentown, PA is seeking a Lab Technician - Microbiology to prepare samples, track client/sample data, and perform analysis under established protocols. The role emphasizes safety and accuracy in a full-time laboratory setting.

The incumbent will work with LIMS, manage paperwork, and support continuous improvement, with shift options including 4-day and 5-day schedules and overtime opportunities. Compensation aligns with market rates for lab roles in the region.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required; Associates or Bachelors in Microbiology, Biology, or related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computers to accurately enter testing data.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe workspace.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with client and sample numbers for traceability.
• Pipette samples into tubes or plates according to the protocol being performed.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate growth.
• Incubate plates at specified time and temperature for analysis.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Ensure materials are ready for the next testing sequence.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS for data entry and tracking.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine microorganism counts.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Perform housekeeping to keep the workspace clean and sanitized.
• Retain samples as required and adhere to safety policies.
• Assist in management system implementation and improvement.
