Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES is seeking a Microbiology Technician for our Salida, CA laboratory. You will prepare samples for analysis, weigh and blend materials, label plates, and manage entry of test data to support pathogen testing workflows.

The role requires a HS Diploma with 1+ year lab experience, basic safety knowledge, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. You will operate equipment such as incubators and autoclaves in a clean, safety-conscious environment and contribute to quality

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work in a lab setting.
• Basic science knowledge to perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results.
• Familiarity with LIMS and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Write identification onto plates to track client and sample numbers.
• Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to the analysis process.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
• Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified time and temperature.
• Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Perform housekeeping to keep areas clean and sanitized.
