Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES Visalia is seeking a Lab Technician - Microbiology to support sample preparation and documentation in an environment focused on accuracy and safety. You will read plates and tubes, record findings, and ensure traceability of client and sample numbers throughout the analysis workflow.

The role offers training, a daytime shift with overtime as needed, and emphasizes safety and correct procedures.

Qualifications

• Analytical skills are essential to complete analysis procedures.
• Basic knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to process client data.
• Basic PC skills to enter testing data accurately.
• Planning skills helpful to maintain supplies and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

• Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in a sample.
• Record findings on worksheets for verification.
• Write identification onto plates for traceability of client and sample numbers.
• Pipette samples according to the analysis process being performed.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin growth.
• Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Incubate plates at specified times and temperatures.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Autoclave and sterilize materials as needed.
• Perform tests such as food poisoning, pH and other analyses as requested.
• Maintain LIMS knowledge to complete responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials for analysis.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
