Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLS for the 2nd shift at IL Central Lab: Microbiology. This full-time role is 40 hours weekly, with hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

and rotating weekends/holidays. Responsibilities include performing and evaluating laboratory tests, calibrating instruments, ensuring quality control, and training staff while adhering to CAP standards. Licensure as MT/MLS by ASCP BOC or AMT within 1 year is required; no prior experience is necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• No experience required.
• MT/MLS licensure within 1 year required.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports results.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments.
• Implements quality control and quality assurance per protocol.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients according to protocol.
• Provides training and guidance to staff and students.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
• Performs proficiency testing and specialty testing across departments.
• Demonstrates care appropriate to patient age.
