Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Lab Manager-Microbiology to lead a high-complexity microbiology lab. The role focuses on staff supervision, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and strategic process improvements within a CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified environment.

The manager partners with directors and caregivers to ensure excellence in service delivery, budget management, and test development activities while implementing automated and non-automated technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical/physical/biological science.
• Master’s degree preferred in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• Five to seven years of high-complexity testing experience.
• Two years of leadership or supervisory experience in microbiology or a clinical diagnostic lab.
• Experience with quality assurance programs, regulatory compliance, and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Supervise supervisors and professional staff in a high-complexity laboratory.
• Lead process design, implementation, and continuous improvement of operations.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, supply utilization, and inventory.
• Support test development activities and equipment selection.
• Oversee both automated and non-automated lab technologies.
