Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Intern to join the Microbiology team in Birmingham, AL. You will shadow professionals, learn diagnostic workflows, and assist with non-testing lab tasks during a 11-week, full-time summer program. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with a pay range of $17.75–$22 per hour.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning, exposure to Labcorp’s operations, mentoring, and opportunities to engage with senior leaders and peers across the business.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant degree in laboratory science with a strong interest in diagnostics.
• Demonstrates precision and adherence to lab safety procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Shadow laboratory professionals and learn diagnostic workflows and instrumentation.
• Assist with specimen organization, inventory and workspace preparation.
• Participate in approved mock testing and basic laboratory techniques under supervision.
• Support approved laboratory projects and follow SOPs.
• Maintain professionalism, including punctuality and safety compliance.
