Job summary

Labcorp in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Technologist to join our team. The role focuses on specimen acceptability, routine and complex testing, and instrument troubleshooting to ensure accurate patient results. Flexibility to work variable shifts is required.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science or MLS, with 1+ year of clinical lab testing experience or an MLS degree. ASCP/AMT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, or MLS required.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR MLS degree.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
