Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our Micro team at UAB St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham, AL.

The role operates on a Day Shift / 1st Shift and involves performing a range of routine and complex tests, instrument troubleshooting, and ensuring high-quality patient results. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology, with 1 year of lab testing experience or an MLS degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
