Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Intern to join the Microbiology team in Birmingham, AL. You will shadow professionals, learn diagnostic workflows, and assist with non-testing lab tasks during a 11-week, full-time summer program. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with a pay range of $17.75–$22 per hour.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning, exposure to Labcorp’s operations, mentoring, and opportunities to engage with senior leaders and peers across the business.

Responsibilities

• Shadow laboratory professionals and learn diagnostic workflows and instrumentation.
• Assist with specimen organization, inventory and workspace preparation.
• Participate in approved mock testing and basic laboratory techniques under supervision.
• Support approved laboratory projects and follow SOPs.
• Maintain professionalism, including punctuality and safety compliance.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Intern to join our Microbiology team located in Birmingham, AL.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm/ 40hrs per week

Job Responsibilities

• Shadow laboratory professionals and learn diagnostic workflows, instrumentation, and department operations
• Assist with non-testing laboratory tasks, such as specimen organization, inventory, and workspace preparation
• Participate in approved mock testing, demonstrations, and basic laboratory techniques under supervision
• Support approved laboratory projects
• Follow all safety and compliance standard operating procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Chemical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology Bachelor’s degree program

Internship Details

• Duration: 11 weeks, full-time
• Dates of Internship: June 1st – August 13th, 2027
• Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

• Pay Range: $17.75-22/hr

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
