Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group in Frederick, MD is seeking a Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our team. The role involves performing detailed fetal ultrasound, assisting with procedures, and preparing comprehensive reports for physicians.

The candidate should have an accredited sonography degree, ARDMS certification or eligibility, and obstetric/MFM experience; continuing education and CPR are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
• Maintain or be eligible for ARDMS certification.
• ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
• NT experience or certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets.
• Assist physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Document exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details in reporting systems.
• Record patient history, indications, and observations per protocols and standards.
• Generate clear preliminary reports for interpretation and final signature.
• Review studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings and support accuracy.
• Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with policies and safety standards.
• Assign appropriate exam types, procedures, and indication codes to support reporting and billing.
• Escort patients and family members to and from the examination room.
• Prepare patients for ultrasound exams by verifying identity and relevance of history.
• Explain procedures to patients and families; provide reassurance and support.
• Obtain appropriate consent and/or declinations.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and address malfunctions as needed.
• Maintain inventory of ultrasound supplies and assist with room upkeep.
• Follow ultrasound lab protocols for imaging and safety standards.
• Rotates to other locations as needed to cover absences.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
