Job summary

Shape Corp. is seeking a Metrology Lab leader responsible for development and management of the Metrology Lab operations.

Lead and direct CMM Operators and Programmers to ensure accurate dimensional inspection results and compliant processes. You will train Shape associates in interpretation of inspection data, mentor staff on measurement practices, and coordinate calibration and certification of inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and support to CMM Operators and Programmers.
• Train and develop Shape associates and internal customers on interpretation of dimensional inspection and layout results.
• Assist with calibration and certification of process inspection and test equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
• Communicate inspection data, measurement results, and reports clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor metrology associates in proper measurement practices and equipment use.
• Promote adherence to metrology procedures, quality standards, and lab practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in the Metrology Lab to improve accuracy, efficiency, and customer support.
• Coordinate third party test lab services as needed.
• Foster a safe work environment by implementing Shape's Health and Safety standards.
• Perform daily Top5 meetings and mentor team members on daily expectations.
• Promote Shape core values and systems.
• Facilitate problem solving to determine corrective and preventive actions.
• Staff Management: conduct performance evaluations; assess subordinates’ development needs and mentor accordingly.
• Set department direction and ensure accountability to performance standards and strategic objectives.
• Create and maintain system metrics and KPI reports for calibration, measurement plan, and maintenance.
• Audit current quality systems and processes for compliance.
• Support continuous improvement activities through SES and improvement idea process.
• Coordinate communication between shifts.
• Identify and train backups to manage key tasks when absent.
