Job summary

The City of Greensboro is seeking a dependable Meter Services Technician to support safe, reliable water service for the community. You will perform meter-related fieldwork, investigate leaks, and ensure water quality and system integrity while engaging with customers in a professional manner.

You will apply AWWA standards and backflow precautions, coordinate with the Water Resources Department, and work on a schedule that includes field activities across Greensboro.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant technical experience valued.
• NC AWWA certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license required for field service work.

Responsibilities

• Perform water meter change-outs and related installation and maintenance work.
• Detect and investigate leaks on water services and mains.
• Inspect and test backflow prevention devices and meters.
• Read strip maps and water block sheets to support field activities.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities and inspections.
