Job summary

Wilson County Government is seeking a Water Service Technician to install, repair and maintain water lines, meters, and related infrastructure. The role involves reading meters, processing service orders, locating lines, collecting samples, and ensuring compliance with water policies.

The position requires operation of equipment such as tractors and backhoes, routine SCADA monitoring, and after-hours emergency readiness.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
Experience operating and maintaining water systems preferred.
Ability to read and interpret meters, service orders, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Reads water meters and records readings.
Processes service orders and manages water meters on customer request.
Performs utility location and marking of mains and services.
Maintains and repairs water system infrastructure and flushing hydrants.
Investigates customer concerns about water quality and pressure.
Responds to customer questions and enforces water policies.
Operates pumping stations and SCADA equipment; collects samples and logs readings.
Ensures safety on site with traffic control and cleanup duties.
Performs routine maintenance on county vehicles and equipment.
