The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking an organized, dependable, and customer-focused Crew Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of a nine-member field team responsible for meter installations, maintenance, readings, and customer service activities supporting more than 106,000 water accounts and approximately $120 million in annual revenue. This position plays an important role in coordinating field operations that directly support accurate utility billing and reliable customer service.
About Water Resources:
The Water Resources Department provides essential water and wastewater services that protect public health, support the community, and maintain critical infrastructure. The Meter Services team plays a key role in ensuring water usage is accurately measured, customer accounts are properly maintained, and field activities are coordinated with billing and customer service operations.

Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $54,102.00 - $71,187.00Full Salary Range: $54,102.00 - $96,814.00 Annually

About the Role:
As the Crew Coordinator, you will oversee and coordinate daily field operations for the Meter Services team. You will assign and monitor work to ensure meter maintenance, readings, customer service requests, and utility billing schedules are completed accurately and efficiently.This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of nine full-time field staff.
- Plan, assign, and delegate daily work involving meter installation, maintenance, and reading activities.
- Coordinate delinquent account cut-offs and restoration of water service.
- Oversee meter investigations and meter cut-ons and cut-offs for residential and commercial customers.
- Support the timely maintenance of meter reading and utility billing schedules.
- Develop working knowledge of the upload and download processes for mobile meter readings into the customer information and billing system.
- Coordinate field activities with Meter Services office staff, Billing Analysts, and second-shift maintenance staff.
- Perform personnel and performance-related responsibilities, including leave and overtime approval, hiring, and training assignments.
- Assist with resolving billing and water service cut-on/cut-off disputes.
- Communicate directly with customers by telephone and through field visits to address service concerns and resolve issues.
- Monitor daily operations to help ensure accurate, timely, and responsive service.
- Ability to make decisions and adapt procedures to resolve issues or problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with customers and city staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- "OR" an equivalency of 3 years of education and 6+ years of "related" technical and customer service experience (i.e., overseeing meter maintenance, readings, cut-ons, and cut-offs, and utility billing schedules)
- Valid Driver's License
- 4+ years of "related" technical and customer service request experience (i.e., overseeing meter maintenance, readings, cut-ons, and cut-offs, and utility billing schedules)
- NC Meter Technician certification ("or" ability to obtain within 18-24 months)
- Confined Space Training ("or" ability to attain within 18-24 months)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Supervisory experience
- 4+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and reading all-size water meters in a Water Distribution system
- Experience working with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure)
- Experience working with a utility billing system (EnQuesta)
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications
