Job summary

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department seeks a Crew Coordinator to lead a nine-person Meter Services team, coordinating meter installation, reading, and billing activities to ensure accurate billing and responsive customer service.

As a non-exempt supervisor, you will manage scheduling, training, and performance, while collaborating with Billing Analysts and maintenance staff to maintain service levels and address customer concerns.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or 3 years of education and 6+ years of related technical and customer service experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• 4+ years of related technical and customer service experience (meter maintenance, readings, cut-ons/offs, billing schedules).
• NC Meter Technician certification or ability to obtain within 18–24 months.
• Confined Space Training or ability to attain within 18–24 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of nine full-time field staff.
• Plan, assign, and delegate daily work involving meter installation, maintenance, and reading activities.
• Coordinate delinquent account cut-offs and restoration of water service.
• Oversee meter investigations and cut-ons/cut-offs for residential and commercial customers.
• Support timely maintenance of meter reading and utility billing schedules.
• Develop working knowledge of uploading/downloading meter readings into billing system.
• Coordinate field activities with office staff and second-shift maintenance staff.
• Perform personnel and performance-related responsibilities, including leave and overtime approval, hiring, and training.
• Assist with resolving billing and water service disputes.
• Communicate with customers by phone and field visits to address service concerns.
• Monitor daily operations to ensure accurate, timely service.
• Make decisions and adapt procedures to resolve issues.
